Dr. George “Chip” Briggs – Chief Operating OfficerDr. George “Chip” Briggs joined the Valor Healthcare team in November 2007 as the Medical Director of the Houma Community-Based Outpatient Clinic after serving as a staff physician with the Veterans Administration since 2004. The Houma clinic quickly became one of the best performing clinics within the Valor Healthcare and Southeast Louisiana VA network. Dr Briggs was then promoted to Chief of Staff for all Valor CBOCs in December of 2008 and most recently to Chief Operating Officer in May of 2009. He brings a vision and passion to providing high-quality, compassionate and cost effective health care to our veteran population. After receiving his undergraduate degree at Loyola University in New Orleans, Dr. Briggs earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984 at the North Texas State University of Osteopathic Medicine. He is currently board certified in family practice as well as managed care medicine. He holds active licenses in Texas, Louisiana and Florida, and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Upon completion of his post graduate
training, Dr. Briggs served in the
U.S. Public Health Service as Chief
of Health Programs at the Federal Detention
Center in Oakdale, Louisiana, where
he provided primary care and mental
health services to illegal U.S. detainees.
He has also worked in the private sector,
building two successful solo private
family practices. In addition, Dr Briggs
served as Medical Director of Gulf
Coast Family Physicians and Gulf Coast
Senior Health Center, while employed
by HCA/Columbia in Fort Myers, Fl.
