Jim Wheeler - Vice President Veteran Outreach

Colonel, Retired, Jim Wheeler joined the Valor Health Team in December 2007 as a Vice President and Regional Director for Veterans Outreach. His clinics include: Hot Springs, Arkansas, Houma, Louisiana, Denton, Galveston, Texas City and Sherman, Texas and Laguna Hills, California.

Prior to joining Valor Colonel Wheeler served 10 years as the County Veterans Service Officer (VSO) for Denton County, Texas. During his tenure as a VSO he served as the Regional Director of the County Veterans Service Officers Association of Texas and as the state President in 2007. In addition to serving the 40,000 veterans of Denton County he founded a Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter, the largest forming chapter in the history of the organization, and served as its first President. He was a charter member of a Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) chapter formed in Denton and served as its Commander for two years. He is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Military Officers Association of America.

Prior to his role as VSO Jim had a 10 year career in the banking profession in El Paso, Texas, principally as a lender and branch manager. He retired from banking as a Vice President.
Colonel Wheeler served 21 years in the US Army as an Airborne Infantry officer. His tours of duty took him to multiple postings in the Continental United States, Alaska, France and two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded four Purple Heart Medals among many others.
His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in economics and accounting and a Master’s Degree in management.
